Sekhet Bast Ra unofficially started in late 1983 when Frater yh returned from California at the end of his military service. While in California Fr. yh had been initiated into the Minerval, First and Second Degrees of O.T.O. by Hymenaeus Alpha. On his return he brought with him the Caliph's permission to start an official O.T.O. body in Oklahoma and a charter to initiate up to the Second Degree. Small meetings were occurring during this time and they laid many foundations.
By August 1984 e.v. there was a body of nine Minerval candidates and Sekhet-Bast-Ra was granted Camp status as a satellite body of Thelema Lodge in Berkeley, California with Fr. yh as camp master. Frater yh and Soror vh performed these first initiations in Oklahoma on 11 August in Oklahoma City. In December of that year the first Gnostic Mass temple opened and Sekhet-Bast-Ra performed their first public Mass. We began regular performance of the Gnostic Mass and over the next few years moved temple location several times. During 1985 e.v. Fr. yh received his Third Degree and the charter to initiate to that degree.
Sekhet-Bast-Ra was given Oasis status on 21 March 1986 e.v.. Then in July Sekhet-Bast-Ra performed the first First Degree initiations in Oklahoma.
On 20 June 1987 e.v., shortly after Fr. yh's latest trip to California, Lodge status was granted and SBR was no longer a satellite body of Thelema Lodge. During July 1987 e.v. the first Second Degree and the first Third Degree initiations in Oklahoma were performed. Frater yh performed these initiations on 25 July and 24 July respectively.
In August 1989 e.v. Sekhet-Bast-Ra brought out initiators from California and performed the first Fourth Degree, P. I. and K. E. W. initiations in Oklahoma. Arch-Bishop DuQuette also ordained the first Priests and Priestesses of the E.G.C. in Oklahoma. During these past few years many candidates were initiated who started their own bodies and have started to fill in the center of this country to link the two coasts. Frater yh and Soror vh are responsible for several of the initiations, which have built the O.T.O. in the Southwest and Midwest and Plains States.
Nevertheless, by 1993 e.v. the leadership of Sekhet-Bast-Ra was due for a change. On 4 May of that year, joint control of charter for Sekhet-Bast-Ra and charter to initiate was given to Frater Hunahpu and Soror Ixel Balamke and Sekhet-Bast-Ra returned to Oasis status. With renewed activity, SBR finished off its first full cycle of the production of Aleister Crowley's Rites of Eleusis, which it had begun in January 1993 e.v. Initiations increased in frequency and the few years that followed saw drastic change and evolution for the O.T.O. in Oklahoma.
During 1995 e.v. SBR performed baptisms and confirmations for several candidates, and, in May, ordained the first Deacon of both SBR and Oklahoma. These years also saw an increase in public awareness. SBR went online with Email, a dedicated phone line and a homepage on the World Wide Web in January 1996 e.v. and gained many allies in the community during this period.
On 19 April 1997 e.v. the Electoral College again bestowed lodge status to Sekhet-Bast-Ra.
By 2002 e.v. the lodge was under the sole mastership of Soror Ixel Balamke and our EGC sanctuary had multiple Deacons, Priests and Priestesses.
In October of 2003 e.v. SBR saw the chair passed to its fourth master Sr. AHBH, and was again classified as an Oasis.
In 2005 e.v. Sekhet Bast Ra opened its public temple, and is currently active in the local magickal community.
